Meet the Eco Team's Team Leader at the Pallebedda Junction [Pelmadulla - Embilipitiya road. Exact location could be sent] and start the journey to the "Waulpane cave". 1 ½ hour's drive.

About Waulpane Cave
This cave is an isolated cavern set against the eastern slopes of the Rakwana range. It contains a large number of stalactites and stalagmites and is estimated to be approximately 500 million years old. You will journey Approx. 300mt underground to discover this prehistoric world.While there are few fossils visible in the caverns wall, the main building process is still continuing.
The stream, which runs through this cave, becomes a beautiful waterfall at the center, giving you a mysterious and a thrilling experience.You may encounter few water monitors, Amphibians and thousands of Bats in this fully dark cave.

Caving in its finer sense, is known as speleology It involves Exploration of the cave, Surveying, Mapping, Photographing of interesting cave passages, Studying of Cave life, Geology, Hydrology etc.

Important factors:

  • Clients should carry Personal effects for Warm/Windy/Rainy conditions.
  • Shoes with good grip is essential as the surface in the cave is slippery.
  • Clients need to get in to water time to time and should be prepared to get showered with bat done ! [You are protected with helmets and rain coat any way !]
  • Not suitable for children under 6 years of Age and Adults above 60.
Payment Policy: Full payment with the confirmation.
 
Cancellation Policy :
  • 48 hours or less, 100% cancellation charge. No refund.
  • 48 hours to 4 days - 70% cancellation charge.  30% will be refunded.
  • 4 days to 7 days - 40 %cancellation charge. 60% will be refunded.
  • 8 days or more - No cancellation charges provided no commitment or advances are made to 3rd parties. 100% of the payment refunded less what has been paid to 3rd parties.

"Staff is very friendly - safe driving

Interesting Cave, but not a cave for expert speleologists as it is very small and has no tecnical passage (it is only a show cave but very interesting one) ".

Suggestions
Combine caving tour with other activity such as walk in the nearby forest/visit to village or school/ experience village life (foreigners find this interesting)

Give more precise into on Cave - length, age time spend in cave, type of trip in cave (need spare cloths)

The cave could be made accessible to more tourists, hand rails/ handholds/ foot holds are installed at slippery and steep sections. A show cave must put safety first.
