As a result, the vegetation consists of moist semi-evergreen forests, tropical savanna forests, dry patana grasslands and montane temperate forests, making it one of the richest bio-diversity spots in Sri Lanka - a perfect location for nature lovers.

From Belihuloya, you would travel 14 km along the main road to Kalupahana to meet the left turn, which leads to Horton Plains and from there another 6km to start the trekking journey.

This particular route has got it's name as "Satan's Steps" due to the steep climb and narrow sharp bends, - mainly hairpin bends. You should not get deceived by the good road condition when you travel first few km's.

One of the main highlights on this route would be the Sri Lanka 's highest Waterfall - 'Bambarakanda Waterfall'- which has a height of 790 ft.. Having a dip in the natural rock pool at the bottom of this fall would be an unforgettable experience.
