ULTIMATE FISHING ADVENTURES WITH ECO TEAM

“Television icon Robson Green is on a mission to discover the weird, the wonderful and the way-off-limits of the fishing world. Chasing some of the most elusive and terrifying fish on the planet, Robson, a passionate fisherman, learns new tricks, hears old stories and eats pretty much everything he catches”…

Robson Green was in Sri Lanka recently filming for Extreme Fishing conducted by IWC Media in UK. Eco Team was the local agent coordinating the filming effort, which went along for 9 days. We were delighted to host the team, and proud to have been chosen as their partner for the project in Sri Lanka! And what an exciting project it proved to be!

Sri Lanka with its many rivers, lakes and the Indian Ocean were able to give Robson a wide perspective of fishing in Sri Lanka. Some of the highlights were Mahseer fishing in the longest river in Sri Lanka (Mahaweli) River, Cave fishing at a cave which is home to thousands of bats (Wavulpone Caves), and Deep Sea Fishing off the southern seas in Hambantota, Stilt Fishing – an old custom of fishing in the shallow seas in Koggala and River Fishing in Madu Ganga. Eco Team provided research and tour planning support, coordination of government authorities and expert guide assistance to the filming team.

We’ll keep you posted when the documentary is ready and perhaps we can share a glimpse or two, in this forum in a later issue!

Sri Lanka is extraordinary – Ben Kingsley

Most of us in the West tend to make generalizations about the Indian subcontinent. Sri Lanka is extraordinary, its people very hard working and very committed.

It had been a pleasing experience working with them, said Oscar winning British actor Sir Ben Kingsley.

The award winning actor best known for his role as Mohandas Gandhi in Richard Attenboroug’s Gandhi was in Sri Lanka recently to portray the lead role in Chandran Rutnam’s movie A Common Man. Speaking about his experience of working with the Sri Lankan people on the sets of the film, Kingsley added, “I don’t feel that there is a hidden agenda here.

What you see is what you get and that is very important when you are making a film.

You are dealing with stacks of money, personnel, transport, the structure and the infrastructure.

The politics of the film set are fascinating and I feel very secure knowing that when a person says that they are doing something or going to do something, they really mean it. This helped me to complete my task efficiently.

Shooting in Sri Lanka was a really marvelous experience.”

Apart from Kingsley Chariots of Fire actor Ben Cross too starred in the film. A Common Man is a suspense thriller based on an Indian film.

It deals with the theme of eradicating terrorism. Currently in its editing process the film aims for a worldwide release.
