Diving sites in Trincomalee - Sri LankaTRINCOMALEE (more commonly known as 'Trinco') is a prime eco tourism venue which is located on the northeast coast of Sri Lanka and offers some of the country's most attractive beaches such as 'Uppuveli' and 'Nilaveli'. Fine white-sand and crystal clear water provides an irresistible combination that won't fail to disappoint any visitor who loves the beach!

Snorkelling around the famous Pigeon island just off Nilaveli beach is widely recognised to be a 'must-do' activity during a stay in Trinco.
SPECIFICS TO DIVING/SNORKELLING IN TRINCOMALEE
Due to the monsoon seasons, the best time to go diving and Snorkelling in Trincomalee is between April and October.
PIGEON ISLAND
  • Just a few hundred metres offshore from Nilaveli beach (about a 15 min outboard motor boat trip), this is an ideal site for a half day of snorkel lings
  • For diving, the underwater scenery is better on coral reefs a little further off-shore
