It also holds the world’s first and only betel research lab and institute while boasting a multi-ethnic community predominantly made up of Sinhalese and Muslims. Although temperatures can rise in this part of the country, Narammala is the perfect place to begin your cycling expedition as it offers up beautiful scenery and a hospitable local community. This was an absolutely incredible way to explore Sri Lanka! Cycling through stunning landscapes, from lush tea plantations to ancient cities, gave us a unique perspective of the country. The itinerary was well-planned, with a great mix of cultural highlights, wildlife encounters, and breathtaking scenery. The cycling routes were challenging yet rewarding, and our guide was fantastic—knowledgeable, patient, and always encouraging.

There were only six others besides us, and we found that the rest of the group were like-minded. We were glad we chose this trip over tours offered by large companies

The only downside was the heat, which made some of the longer rides quite exhausting, but the support vehicle was always there when needed. The accommodations were comfortable, and the food was delicious—especially the authentic Sri Lankan curries. If you love cycling and adventure, this tour is a must-do!

This was a fantastic cycling experience, with breathtaking scenery and well-planned routes that covered both cultural and natural highlights. The best part was cycling through the countryside, where we got to interact with locals and see the “real” Sri Lanka. The accommodations were comfortable, and the food was delicious.

That being said, the difficulty level was a bit higher than I expected, with some long climbs and a few rough roads. It would have been helpful to have a clearer idea of the terrain beforehand. Also, while most of the cycling was on quiet roads, there were a few sections with heavier traffic. Overall, though, it was a great adventure and well worth the effort!

This was a well-organized and enjoyable cycling tour that took us through some of the most beautiful parts of Sri Lanka. We loved riding through remote villages, tea estates, and national parks—it felt like we truly got off the beaten path. The guide was excellent, and the bikes were in great condition.

However, the heat and humidity made some sections of the ride more challenging than expected, especially in the afternoons. A few of the roads were also quite busy with traffic, which wasn’t ideal for cycling. That said, the support vehicle was always nearby, and the overall experience was still fantastic. Would definitely recommend this to active travellers!
